‘I will miss the people, not working all week’

‘I won’t miss working seven days a week,’ he said. ‘But I will certainly miss the people and the baking.’

Mr Brazier said running the kiosk became a way of life more than a job.

‘I haven’t had a day off during the season for the last three years, but the staff have all been amazing and I will definitely miss it.’

The unpredictable Guernsey weather is what deterred Mr Brazier and his wife, Karin, from renewing their lease.

‘When it’s windy or raining people don’t want to sit outside and there are so many nice places nearby where they can sit inside.’

Many kind comments were left on the chalkboard outside the kiosk that locals left to say thanks to Mr and Mrs Brazier and the staff for their work.

‘It was very emotional reading the messages that were left.

‘When we took it over we wanted to make it our own, tried to make it as friendly and welcoming as we could and I hope the next tenants will do the same,’ he said.

Having limited holidays and social time to winter months, Mr Brazier is looking forward to a world outside of catering restrictions.

‘It will be nice to have holidays in the summer, and I’d look to work four days a week so I can spend the others looking after my house, my garden and my car which have been neglected over the last three years.’

Special thanks was given to all customers for their support over the last three years and the staff.

‘We are really going to miss everyone, especially the staff, who have just been brilliant,’ he said.

The kiosk closes for the season under Mr Brazier’s management tomorrow and will reopen when a new tenant is found.
