Tip worker caught throwing rubbish out of Mont Cuet
STATES Works has apologised after footage emerged of one of its staff throwing rubbish out of the tip.
The minute-long clip, which was shared in a local Facebook group, showed the worker picking up what appeared to be white plastic caught in the netting at Mont Cuet and throwing it towards the sea.
After being alerted to the footage by the Guernsey Press yesterday, Paul Lickley, general manager at States Trading Assets said: ‘I would like to apologise for the actions of the staff seen throwing plastic over the netting at Mont Cuet. The staff members have been identified and will be dealt with appropriately.’
Mont Cuet will be closed for general waste when the new export facility begins operating at Longue Hougue.
That is scheduled for the second half of October.
