Guernsey Data Park Ltd was one of several Long Port Group companies which were placed in administration in December 2016.

The site of the proposed data park has lain unused since 2013, although in anticipation of its development traffic lights were installed at a junction in Route Militaire.

Deloitte’s Alex Adam was one of the two administrators appointed to oversee disposal of the companies and said that it was still the intention to sell the data park company but this was proving difficult because of its size, some 17 acres.

‘The site is zoned as industrial and has a specified use as a data park,’ he said. ‘There’s been some interest, but it’s a big site.’

He thought another problem in selling the company and the site was the loss of low-value consignment relief on small packages sent from Guernsey, which had an adverse effect on several existing local firms when it was withdrawn.

Other Long Port companies which were placed in administration at the same time as Guernsey Data Park were North Leigh Park Group Limited, Gibfield Park Group Limited, Lydda Holdings Limited, Jubilee General 2 Limited, Jubilee General 3 Limited and Jubilee Esplanade Limited.

Lydda and Jubilee had properties in Guernsey which have now been sold, said Mr Adam.

‘We’ve sold a number of assets, some in Guernsey and some in the UK,’ he added.

Two other firms – Jubilee Scheme 2 LP and Jubilee Scheme 3 LP – went into liquidation at the time the others were placed in administration. Long Port companies which were not affected included Kings Court Holdings Ltd and Marina Court Ltd, which own and operate Kings Premier Health Club and Marina Health and Leisure, which continue to trade.
