Guernsey Airport closes forecourt due to risk of falling roof panels

Guernsey Airport has closed the forecourt area over fears that panels above the entrances might come off in the wind.

Fire and Rescue helped to mend broken sections of the airport's roof which came down in the winds in January. They have been called in again.

People are being asked to use the main car park instead.

The bus stop and taxi ranks have been temporarily relocated.

'Passengers, business partners, and terminal users should follow any instructions from airport staff on-site while this incident is being dealt with,' a spokesman said.

The turntable ladder from the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service is being brought so that the panelling can be fixed before the forecourt can be reopened.

They helped in a similar way when the roof was damaged by wind in January.

The wind is currently a southerly force 6 with the highest gust in the last hour being 41mph.
