Six positions, in addition to the chief executive, replace the previous 13-role group.

‘These changes are being made to ensure that we have the right structure in place to be as efficient and joined up as possible in line with the objectives of public service reform and the ongoing modernisation of our organisation,’ said chief executive Paul Whitfield.

‘This will help us to put our customers first and improve communication between services where needed to avoid the perception or reality of silo working that causes issues for our service users.

‘This is particularly important where there are increasing overlaps across many areas of government policy and service delivery.’

The strategic lead for people policy will be Mark de Garis; for place policy, Steve Wakelin; supporting government, Colette Falla; for future digital technology and communications, Colin Vaudin; for finance and investments, Bethan Haines; for operational delivery and support, Jason Moriarty.

There will be a period of transition where they will continue in their existing roles as the States works towards putting in place a new operating model.

When he first announced the restructure, Mr Whitfield said that, by the end of 2020, there would be a fundamental redesign of the civil service which would remove 200 posts.
