Family of missing footballer arrive in Guernsey in bid to restart search
FOOTBALLER Emiliano Sala's family have arrived in the island, along with renowned oceanographer David Mearns, to restart the search for the missing player.
In a press conference at Guernsey Airport this afternoon Mr Mearns confirmed that local fishing boats have been checking the area over the weekend to see if they could see anything. It is planned that the search will restart next week.
Mr Sala and his pilot David Ibbotson were in a small aircraft flying from Nantes to Cardiff when they disappeared off Alderney last Monday night. A four-day search was called off on Thursday.
The new search, spearheaded by the footballer's family, is being funded from more than £220,000 in donations received from more than 4,000 people.
