Lisa Bailey, an associate on the local corporate team, will be shown taking part in the first heat this evening.

She is one of 56 amateur chefs to have made it through to the televised stages from thousands of initial applications. She will be up against seven contestants taking part in tonight’s heat, trying to impress hosts and judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace. The top three chefs will make it through to the quarter finals.

Ms Bailey was tight-lipped as to how she got on.

‘It was an incredible opportunity to participate in one of my favourite shows on TV,’ she said.

‘I am a huge MasterChef fan and I am delighted I was lucky enough to take part in MC2019.’

The Radio Times review of the episode states that the amateur chefs will be using some experimental flavour combinations this episode, as well as a Danish-inspired cold dessert soup.

It also notes that one female contestant tries to serve up a chocolate fondant – a dessert that does not always go to plan on the show – but it does not state if this is Ms Bailey.

The programme starts at 9pm on BBC One.
