Les Bourgs Hospice is hosting the event for the fifth year with islanders encouraged to walk for at least 30 minutes every day in April.

‘We are pleased with the turnout again,’ fundraising administrator Trish de Carteret said.

‘It is especially popular with older people and encourages them to get out in the fresh air and be a bit more active with low-impact and low-stress exercise.’

This is the third year the event has been sponsored by Praxis FM.

‘Having the support of a company like Praxis is great because it means more people get involved and help with costs.’

Mrs de Carteret added: ‘They also come up with new ideas and new ways to market the event, which is always fantastic.’

So far, 130 people have signed up to do the walks.

They can walk wherever they like, for as long as they like, whenever they like.

Sharon Coburn, head of HR at Praxis FM, said Les Bourgs was a great charity to get involved with as it links to the other wellness initiatives the company takes part in.

‘Walking is good not only for your physical health, but being outside and exercising is great for mental wellness as well.

‘A fair few members of staff are taking part in the event and encouraging their friends and family to get involved, too.’

The team at Praxis FM take parts in wellbeing initiatives regularly such as yoga at lunchtimes, chest and heart checks and using aluminium bottles instead of plastic ones.

This year is the first year the 30/30 walks have gone plastic free and provided walkers with recyclable items such as paper bags.

Mrs de Carteret thanked the sponsors for their support and everybody taking part.

The last walk on Tuesday 30 April is the only structured walk with a celebration at the end for Les Bourgs to say thank you.
