The Environment & Infrastructure committee backed the move, which follows a public consultation.

Cruise ships passengers have been a big issue previously, with many taking a chance to pay £1 for a round-island trip.

However, this has led to congestion on busy days, with people struggling to board already full services, such as the 91 and 92 routes, which go around the island.

Among the changes is the introduction of a £5-round island fare, for people using the 91 and 92 routes with journeys starting and finishing in St Peter Port.

The stand for the 91/92 routes will also be moved, meaning passengers will board at the far end of the terminus, rather than outside Picquet House.

A new route 60 will operate between Vazon and L’Eree. Currently the 91 and 92 services covering this section are oversubscribed.

Other ways the service is being improved include introducing extra evening services between 29 April and 29 September and adjustments to service frequencies in a bid to keep to the timetable and reduce the amount of time buses spend idle at bus stops. There has also been a move away having services running on the hour, quarter past the hour, half past the hour and quarter to the hour.

This aims to reduce congestion at St Peter Port bus stops and improve connectivity.

The bus consultation saw 30 people respond.

Half the issues raised have already been resolved or partially resolved.

Seven of the responses were described as misinformed and nine were noted but unresolved.

Key reforms agreed as part of the consultation exercise included the new route 60, a direct route 12 in both directions between the Bridge and Admiral Park, adjusting the times for the 32 and 71 routes to better serve school start times and the reinstatement of commuter services on the 71 and P2 routes.

Timings at various stops on most routes will differ slightly from Monday.
