Islanders discover St Peter’s Hidden Gardens
GLORIOUS Saturday sunshine drew out the crowds for the St Peter’s Hidden Garden weekend.

There were 25 gardens opened to the public, as well as 10 other green spaces to explore.
Three routes were offered, varying in length from three-quarters of a mile around the church to a three mile trek almost down to Rocquaine Bay.
The event was raising money for a servery in the parish church.
Reverend Adrian Datta said he was relieved the weather had turned out so beautiful, after Friday’s storm.
‘It’s been a lovely day,’ he said on Saturday.
‘When I was setting out the chairs this morning it was still raining.
‘But by 11.30am it was sunny. It makes such a difference. There has been a steady stream of people.
‘We are hoping for even more tomorrow.’

Among the crowds exploring the gardens was Susie Sloman and her 10-year-old son Cameron.
She said it was great to have a look around the gardens.
‘You never know what’s behind people’s houses,’ she said.
‘It’s lovely. It shows you don’t need a big space to make a beautiful garden.’
Sisters Judy and Sara Lovell were also enjoying the afternoon ramble and said they were impressed by the hard work the homeowners must have put into their gardens.
‘It’s beautiful,’ Judy Lovell said.

‘I don’t know how people get their lawns looking so good. It all looks perfect.
‘It’s really lovely to go behind people’s houses and see their garden.’
Rocq Capital sponsored the weekend.
MD Stuart Perfitt said it was a fabulous event.
