Man's body found near Icart cliffs: police ask for information

A MAN'S body has been discovered on the cliffs at Icart Point.

The discovery was made at 10.45am on Saturday.

Guernsey Police confirmed they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the 53-year-old's death.

The man did not live on Guernsey. His identity is not being released until all of the next of kin have been informed.

'We know he had spent the evening at Les Douvres Hotel, and was last seen in the area of La Motte, St Martin’s, heading towards Saints Road at 11.40pm on 5 July,' a police spokesperson said.

'We are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death, and are keeping an open mind as to how he came to be on the cliffs – which is why we are appealing for information from the public.'

Anyone who saw a 5ft 10in. white male, of stocky build, with short, brown hair on the back and sides, bald on the top, wearing a blue Anfield (Liverpool football) polo shirt, with blue denim shorts, grey walking boots, carrying a black rucksack during the evening July 5 is urged to call 725111 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

'We need as much information as possible to assist with our enquiries so we can build as complete a picture as we can around this man’s death,' the spokesperson said.

'What might seem like a small and trivial detail to you could be of vital importance to us.'
