Bus becomes stuck taking crash diversion
A VISITING family had a nasty experience when their car was badly damaged in a crash this morning [Tuesday].
Nobody was hurt in the collision, which involved the UK-registered Honda Jazz, another car and a flat-bed truck in a three-way shunt.
The Jazz ended up with extensive damage to its front, and had to be towed away.
All three emergency services were despatched to the crash along Forest Road, just before Le Chene traffic lights, at about 10.45am.
Cars approaching the traffic lights heading east from the airport or Route des Blicqs were diverted, while some of those travelling in the opposite direction either turned around in driveways or tried to divert down Les Pieces Lane towards Le Chemin Le Roi.
However, that escape route was blocked after a bus was sent down the lane by a traffic warden and ended up being unable to turn left or right at the narrow junction at the end.
CT Plus said that a member of the controller team went to assist the driver and, with their guidance, the driver managed to get it around the corner.
The number 95 bus was heading to the airport, but all passengers on board decided to get off.
Many of them were going to the Occupation Museum so walked the rest of the way.
The main road was reopened to traffic at about 11.40.
