Voting opens for Pride of Guernsey awards
VOTING opens at 10am for the Guernsey Press Pride of Guernsey Awards 2019.
More than 140 islanders have been nominated, with people from all walks of life being recognised. That includes teachers, nurses, parents, parish champions and young people.
The most popular category this year has been the Alexander Daniels Offshore Customer Service award, with more than 30 nominations.
Alexander Daniels Offshore is also the chief sponsor of the event.
Steve Hubert, a manager and recruitment consultant at the firm, said: ‘We’ve had a great relationship with the Guernsey Press since starting Alexander Daniels Offshore in 2016 and we were delighted to be able to be overall sponsor for the awards. Now in its third year, we have seen the awards go from strength-to-strength and it’s such a worthwhile event that celebrates the island’s unsung heroes across so many different industries and walks of life.’
He said the response to the Customer Service award had been fantastic.
‘We have seen some great nominations and heart-warming stories from lots of individuals across the island. Customer service is at the heart of what we do here at Alexander Daniels Offshore and we wouldn’t be here without the great service of the team around me,’ he said.
‘This is exactly why we chose to sponsor the Customer Service of the Year Award and it’s such a crucial part of a business’s success and people should be recognised for excelling in this area.’
Islanders were also keen to recognise teachers and people who care for others, with each category getting 20 or more nominations.
People can cast their votes through forms in the paper or online at www.prideofguernsey.com.
The top three most popular candidates for each award will go forward to the final, with the winners each collecting a prize worth £1,000.
The voting deadline is midnight on Friday 30 August and the winners, chosen by our judges, will be revealed at a ceremony in October.
Islanders can vote for as many people as they want in any category but can place only one vote per nominee.
