Second cable fault keeps Vauqueidor shut
A BUSY commuter road is set to be shut until the end of the week, after the roadworks there were extended.

Guernsey Electricity started the project on Le Vauquiedor, close to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital entrance, on Monday 5 August, with the work due to be completed by last Friday.
But Guernsey Electricity head of distribution Mike Lloyd said they had to delay reopening the road.
‘During the planned repair works to a low voltage cable fault in Le Vauquiedor, we have found an unrelated issue on an adjacent cable that needs rectification at the earliest opportunity,’ he said.
‘We have taken the difficult decision to extend the road closure to enable our engineers to fix the cable as quickly and safely as possible. We expect the works to be complete by Friday 16 August.’
He said that customers should not experience any disruption in their supply.
‘Guernsey Electricity apologises for any inconvenience caused to residents and appreciates the patience of road users while these essential and time critical works are undertaken,’ he said.
East-bound road users are being redirected along Rue a L’Or, while west-bound traffic is being sent along Les Varioufs.
. Yesterday work also started on Le Mont D’Aval, Castel, which is closed between Haye du Puits and Les Beaucamps until 30 August to allow the road to be resurfaced. Traffic is being diverted up Rectory Hill and and Le Preel.
. Grandes Maisons Road, St Sampson's, was closed between 9 last night and 5 this morning to allow for drain cleaning. It is set to be shut again tonight.
