The consultation period for a planning application for the site has been extended until 4 October.

This follows a request from the constables and douzaine of St Sampson's because they were unable to hold a meeting within the original consultation period, which meant their representation could not be finalised.

The decision was made by the Development and Planning Authority in line with the Charter between the States of Guernsey and the parish douzaine which states douzaines will be given: 'Sufficient information to enable them to reach an informed view on the matter, and give them adequate time to respond.'

The site was allocated for housing as part of the Island Development Plan process and a Development Framework for the site was approved by the DPA in March. Since then the framework was revised twice following public feedback.

The planning application for a proposed residential development on the site was received by the DPA on 15 August.

As required by the Land Planning and Development (General Provisions) Ordinance, 2007, a site notice must be displayed at the site for a minimum of 21 days to inform the community of the proposed plans.

The new October deadline means there will now be sufficient time for representations to be made.

Any representations, by members of the public as well as the douzaine, made by 4 October will be considered by the DPA providing they relate to planning matters.

The decision on the planning application will be made at an open planning meeting and details of when this will take place will be published online.
