Fine weather forecast for bank holiday

THE bank holiday could be a tale of two halves, according to forecasters.

The weather is set fair for a few days.

Today is forecast for a light south-easterly wind bringing in temperatures in the high 20Cs. Beach-goers might want to stock up on sun cream as a UV index of six is expected on each of the three days.

A shift to westerly winds on Saturday night could usher in some slightly cooler weather from the Atlantic into Sunday and Monday.

Islanders could wake to cloudier weather on Sunday morning with a chance of some light rain early on.

This weather shouldn’t dampen the spirits too much, however, as sunny intervals are forecast to develop into the afternoon. Highs of 21C are expected on Sunday and this weather is expected to continue into Bank Holiday Monday, the morning of which could bring the chance of some mist early on, until temperatures in the low-20s burn this away into the afternoon, which will be dry with a gentle north-west wind.

Sunny weather is expected to round-off a relatively warm extended weekend before temperatures drop slightly into the teens through Monday night.
