The tank has been provided by Guernsey Harbours for a number of years for the convenience of operators to offload small quantities of oil.

Vessels now wanting to dispose of oil must do so via Waste Oil Recycling located on Northside.

Head of port operations for Guernsey Harbours, Jerome Davis, added: ‘Routine maintenance inspections found the tank was damaged and was, therefore, taken out of service, hence why the local notices to mariners was issued. Any fishing vessel operator who uses the Fish Quay should make arrangements to dispose their material via Waste Oil Recycling, who are based at Northside instead.’
