Select Dry Cleaning has been on the Bridge for around 15 years and the owner, Arrowsmith Marlowe, is relocating the business to one of its other shops in the Pollet.

One of the directors of the company, Cathy Brady, said that they were facing similar recruitment issues as those experienced by the hotel and catering sectors.

‘It’s been very difficult to get staff in Guernsey. We’ve been struggling with staffing for the last couple of years.

‘For two years I’ve been advertising posts, but it’s always the same situation, and that was the final factor in our decision to relocate to the other premises.

‘We have a great team but I was always having to ask staff to provide extra cover and we thought it best to take the business decision to relocate – it’s purely a business decision.’

Arrowsmith Marlowe owns a number of a dry cleaning shops around the island.

The windows of the shop on the Bridge have been covered up with with white paper and a sign thanks clients for their custom.
