Airport cafe just one star in hygiene rating

EARLY teething issues have been blamed for the airport cafe getting just one star in the latest food hygiene ratings.

Bailiwick Bar and Kitchen opened in July after a £450,000 refurbishment.

Just three months later an inspection raised concerns around hygienic food handling and poor management of food safety.

Yorkshire-based catering firm Caterleisure has the lease for the air and landside businesses.

A spokesman said it was working to improve on the rating, which was published last Tuesday.

‘Caterleisure (Guernsey) Ltd are very disappointed to have received such a low food hygiene rating for Bailiwick Bar and Kitchen at Guernsey Airport,’ the spokesman said.

‘We are still experiencing a few early teething issues, but we would like to re-assure our customers that we are working tirelessly to improve our service.

‘We are liaising with both Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation and the client to resolve the issues raised and have arranged an early re-visit later this week with the inspectors to rectify our current rating.

‘Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive since we launched, we would like to thank our customers for their support during this time and continue to enjoy our new service’.
