Her destination was Dakar in Senegal.

Previously owned by Norled, the ro-ro/passenger ship was sold earlier this year to Herald Marine and Energy Ltd, having been on the market for $460,000.

As she came down between the islands of Spyssoya and Foyno, northerly winds of 15 knots were blowing.

The wind eased as Jireh came down the North Sea, travelling at around 10 knots.

By early afternoon on 30 October she was east of Great Yarmouth, with the wind having strengthened from the east.

She passed Dover early the next morning, and the wind blew stronger from the south-east, around 17 knots, as she came through the English Channel.

By 10.18am, Jireh has turned to head to the shelter of the Normandy coast, arriving at around 4.30pm north of Grandcamp-Maisy, with strong south-westerly winds up to 30 knots being recorded.

She did not leave until 5 November, proceeding up around Cherbourg in strong north and north-easterly winds.

She passed through the French side of the Alderney Race at only six or seven knots with a following wind around lunchtime.

At around 3.35pm, Jireh travelled to the east of Sark, before turning to head west as the northerly blew at 21 knots.

At 5.42pm, while about eight miles south of Guernsey, she suddenly changed course and headed south-east and then east to travel up Jersey’s northern coast – the wind was still strong.

Before 10pm she had stopped off Jersey’s east coast.

Jersey authorities have reported the crew asked to dock in St Helier, but because they did not have a shipping agent were denied entry.

It was not until 13 November at 8am that she left her position and headed to Guernsey, again passing south of Sark, before anchoring at 11am.

That afternoon a south-westerly blowing 35 knots was recorded.
