Liberation back from maintenance tomorrow
CONDOR Liberation is due to return to service tomorrow as scheduled, following routine maintenance.
The Liberation will be back in time for the busy festive holiday period, a Condor spokesman said, following four weeks of work.
One of Condor’s high-speed ferries is dry-docked before Christmas each year. This aims to minimise disruption to travellers during the winter.
‘The work undertaken included a service of Liberation’s exhaust systems and engines, routine maintenance of safety equipment along with refurbishment and deep cleaning of the main passenger areas,’ the spokesman said.
The work must be done in dry dock. She had been in Falmouth, Cornwall, since early November.
Since no abnormalities were discovered during the work, the Liberation was repositioned to Poole on Sunday as planned.
While in Poole, the Liberation is having standard post-dry dock checks, inspections and routine sea trials.
‘This is part of Condor’s asset health programme which sees an investment of £7m. each year across the fleet,’ the spokesman said.
This certifies that the ships are safe to carry passengers and prevents further faults.
The spokesman said that ‘she will be fully restocked and replenished before re-entering service to the Channel Islands.’
The programme for next year has not been published. But, the spokesman said, ‘Condor Rapide’s regular maintenance check is planned for January 2020 and Liberation will replace her on sailings between the UK, Channel Islands, and France during this period.’
These required measures are similar to an MOT for vehicles in use in the United Kingdom.
This re-certifies the fleet for commercial use, and ensures the safety of both the crew and passengers.
