Local schools have been affected by a computer virus recently.

A statement sent to schools by Education, Sport and Culture said that 'considerable resources' have been allocated by the States to deal with the problem.

The virus is being spread by email and schools have been urged to carefully inspect the address of senders before opening any unexpected messages from another school or a particular teacher.

All official school emails end with @ [schoolname].sch.gg or @education.gg. said the ESC release.

'If you are unsure then please delete or contact the sender by phone to find out if it is legitimate.'

The Guernsey Press has contacted ESC for more information.
