Witnesses sought regarding burglary
A MAN has been arrested and remains in custody on suspicion of burglary.
Yesterday afternoon [8 January], a resident who lives in the area of Upper St Jacques, St Peter Port returned home to find their property had been entered.
They noticed a lone male within the grounds who ran off.
Guernsey Police said the owner of the property gave chase, called the police and a 30-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of burglary shortly after.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses who, between 3pm and 4pm yesterday, noticed anybody acting suspiciously.
They are particularly keen to speak to anyone in the area of Rozel Road, Gibauderie, St Jacques and Upper St Jacques.
‘We want to know if anyone knocked on their door between these times, or if you have home CCTV,’ a Guernsey Police spokesperson said.
‘Any bits of information, however minor they may seem to you, could be the key bit of information for us.
‘Please don’t hesitate if you know something – call Guernsey Police on 725111, and ask to be put through to CID.’
Police wanted to stress that burglaries are rare in Guernsey, but took this opportunity to remind people that when they are out they should lock their house and not allow any opportunity for easy access to their property.
