Deputy Jan Kuttelwascher has died.

Deputy Mary Lowe, Mother of the House, said: ‘I can confirm that, sadly, Deputy Jan Kuttelwascher passed away this morning. It is a shock to me and his colleagues in the States, he was dedicated public servant and his passing is a great loss. I would kindly ask people to respect his family’s privacy at this difficult time.’

Deputy Kuttelwascher, 72, was first elected in 2008 and served on the Public Services Department, Scrutiny and Legislation Select Committees. He was also a member of Treasury and Resources.

He was re-elected for a second time in 2016, placing second in St Peter Port South with 1,109 votes, having been proposed by Dame Mary Perkins.

Deputy Kuttelwascher, a former pilot, was a current member of the States' Trading Supervisory Board and a passionate advocate of a longer runway.
