Meanwhile, three others have seen their test results delayed.

Four islanders have tested negative for the disease so far.

It was announced that three more were being tested last Monday and results should come through within 48 hours. But they are still awaiting their results.

A States of Guernsey spokesperson said that the delay in results was not an indication of a potential positive result.

‘The increase in demand on the UK laboratories has increased the time it takes to receive confirmed results from the standard 48 hours,’ they said.

‘In addition, severe weather delayed some samples getting off-island on Monday of this week. For those individuals for whom we are awaiting the results, it is important to emphasise that they could be suffering from flu or another ailment.’

The government website – www.gov.gg/coronavirus – is being regularly updated to provide information on the number of samples that have been taken, the results and the number of samples that are awaiting results.

Today saw worldwide deaths reach a total of more than 1,300.
