The site in the Grange was re-categorised as a housing allocation area in 2016 and last year a draft development framework was drawn up to suggest how the site could be developed.
Unusually, no recommendation was made as to how many dwellings could be built on the site, as it was stated this would depend on the design.
The site is 0.73 acres, with three buildings on it. The largest – which backs onto La Couperderie – was formerly a house, which was converted in the 19th century and later expanded. For a time it was home to Ladies’ College, before being taken over by Education. It is now protected, which could limit how it is adapted for housing in future.
There are two other smaller, single storey buildings on the site, which are not protected.
The site is accessed through a single lane from the Grange.
It is being offered for sale as being ready for immediate vacant possession.
The asking price puts it in the same class as a detached, five-bedroom open market house with sea views.
The States has been approached for comment.
