'Yesterday evening [20 Feb 2020], 56-year-old Alderney resident Robin DuPont was charged with attempted murder,' Chief Inspector Andrew Hockey said.

'He was remanded in police custody overnight and is due to appear in Guernsey's Ordinary Court this morning.'

In the early hours of Wednesday morning [19 Feb 2020], police attended a domestic incident in Alderney and the 56-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was later transferred to Guernsey and was interviewed by officers yesterday [20 Feb 2020].

A 55-year-old female was treated in Le Mignot hospital in Alderney following the incident and was transferred to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital the same day.

CI Hockey said yesterday that the female remained in the PEH in a stable condition.

Additional police resources were deployed to Alderney in order to carry out the investigation.

'Our team of officers are continuing their inquiries into this investigation, and additional resources remain in Alderney to carry this out,' he said.

The public had been reassured that this was just for 'necessary work' and Police were not looking for any further suspects, nor was there a wider risk to the community.
