As well as the bowling alley, the building includes eight apartments and it was sold by estate agents Savills.

Island Bowl closed in 2017 and Savills director Terry Gardiner said that after the UK operator withdrew from the island the site was put on sale with the benefit of vacant possession.

This, he said, provides ‘an almost blank canvas for a new owner to make use of some 24,000sq. ft of ground floor leisure space’.

He said once the building became vacant the number of viewings increased substantially with numerous parties coming forward with ideas.

The building is next to The Track, which has been given permission to extend its facilities.

‘We look forward to watching the future use of the bowl under new ownership unfold,’ he said.

The flats comprise one with three bedrooms, four with two and three with one.

They were let on short tenancies, and the sale documents for the site said that at the time, residential income was about £112,500 a year.
