Beau Sejour cafe, pool and gym still open to public

CLASSES, events and film screenings have been postponed at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre but overall business is as usual.

As the pandemic evolves there may be other closures.

Remaining open to the public is the cafe, swimming pool and BodyZone gym. Most fitness classes are still taking place but with a noticeable drop in attendance.

All Beau Sejour swim lessons are suspended until Sunday 29 March when this will be reviewed.

This follows States of Guernsey and Swim England advice, with hopes to get back in the pool as soon as it is safe to do so.

Around 2,200 pupils attend Swim School per week along with parents and grandparents accompanying them in changing rooms.

A Guernsey Swimming Club spokesperson said is has ‘already cancelled our lessons and informed all of our members via our website, social media and email’.

‘Our directors are still monitoring the situation closely and will keep our members informed of any developments.’

All swimming events have been cancelled in the Channel Islands as well as the UK.

‘This includes our International Masters Meet, Annual Junior Meet, Channel Island Championships and the Barracudas Open Meet I believe. All future meets are also under pressure.’

For the Sarnia Artistic Roller Skating Club, all Sunday skating sessions are cancelled until the end of April.

Monday and Tuesday sessions will continue as normal for skaters without symptoms.

Attendants of the 11am Sunday sessions can join either sessions on Monday at 6.30pm or Tuesday at 5.15pm.

Four screenings of Frozen 2 were scheduled for the Beau Sejour cinema this weekend on the largest cinema screen in Guernsey.

All ticket-holders have been contacted directly to be informed of the change with the offer of a refund.

Rescheduled screenings are anticipated for later in the year or refunds arranged.

Booking has been postponed until further notice for the Guernsey Disability Alliance’s Wheelchair Bouncers.

Usually the group hosts Tuesday lunchtime sessions in the main sports hall to play a range of sports.

Fade 2 Grey 80’s Explosion has been rescheduled to 25th September.

Ticket-holders have automatically had this rescheduled.

For those who cannot attend please contact the Centre for a full refund.

Contrastingly, Martin Kemp: Back to the 80s on 21 May is still due to run.
