Drivers are asked to be aware that contractors and engineers will be working in the carriageway at times and are asked to proceed slowly in the area.

Buses are back on normal routes.

A spokesman for Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services said a combination of winter storms and exceptional rainfall had caused some damage in the area.

Extensive repairs were undertaken on the masonry wall in 2018 and there was no concern for other areas of it.

Urgent protection works have been approved as essential works under the current emergency powers because the sea wall is considered to be critical national infrastructure. There is concern that if works were not carried out there could be a risk of damage to the adjacent road and to utility services during the next high tides.

Boulder armour will be installed in the area and the public car park opposite L’Eree Hotel will be closed between 9am and 4pm on working days. Emergency work is scheduled to be completed by the end of today although further work will be required at a later date.
