Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be a delay in parents receiving confirmation about which primary or secondary schools their child will attend in September.

Letters would normally be sent to parents by the end of the spring term, however this will now be pushed back.

Education operations director Ed Ashton apologised for the delay but hoped that people would understand given the current situation.

'For both primary and secondary admissions, it was expected that we would inform parents of their children's placements for September 2020 by the end of this term,' he said.

'Due to the need to focus on the response to the coronavirus pandemic, unfortunately we are unable to fulfil that expectation.

'We realise that this is important information for both parents and children and are working to get the information to them as soon as possible.

Please be assured that as soon as we have a realistic date, it will be published on the website at www.gov.gg/schooladmissions.'

A further update will be provided following the scheduled Easter break.
