Nine more positive Covid-19 tests, four more in PEH

THE number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Bailiwick has risen to 209, with a further four cases in hospital compared to the previous day.

This is an increase of nine positive diagnoses on the previous day.

A total of nine people are being treated for the virus at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, but none require intensive care or ventilatory support.

In total, there have been 1,636 tests carried out on Bailiwick residents, 90 people are awaiting results and there have been 1,337 negative results.

Six people have died from Covid-19 and three more are presumed to have done so.

On Thursday [09/04] it was announced that a total of 29 residents and 31 staff members have tested positive for Covid-19 in two care homes.

One had 18 staff members and 16 residents test positive and the second care home had 13 residents and 13 staff test positive.

It was also announced that from Thursday [09/04], re-tests for positive cases will take place on day 14 where day zero is the day people were initially swabbed.

If symptoms persist on day 14, those affected are being asked to contact Public Health when they feel better to organise the re-test.

Only one negative result is required to be considered recovered.

There are now 48 people who have recovered after contracting the virus, six more than yesterday.
