The team at Beau Sejour has been ensuring it meets the phase four guidelines, including ensuring the lifeguard team is trained in the new Covid-19 standards as outlined by the Royal Life Saving Society.

Head of recreation services Sam Herridge said a lot of activities have had to be adapted to comply with the social distancing guidelines and numbers limited.

‘This has meant the introduction of a booking system for all of our activities,’ she said.

‘Even those for which customers can usually just turn up and take part – such as swimming.

‘We understand that there are some significant changes, but we’re hoping the community understands that these measures have been introduced to keep the community and our staff team as safe as possible in this phase of exit out of lockdown.’

There will be a welcome desk and swimming will be in lanes only, with a maximum of 30 users, bookable in hour slots.

Swimmers are being asked to come ‘beach ready’ as access will be through the cafe, with stations available to leave belongings poolside.

Showering and changing will be allowed in the changing village at the end of the slot.

The small pool will be split into two lanes and is available to be booked by those who were part of the same extended bubble in phase three.

The BodyZone gym will also be bookable for hourly slots for a maximum of 10 users.

Fitness classes, including spinning, will resume on Saturday in the David Ferguson Hall to ensure all social distancing measures are adhered to.

The cafe will also be operating a take-away service.

Birthday parties, Kiddy Kapers gym sessions and contact sports – including squash – are still not available.

Customers can, however, book squash courts for individual practice or for one-to-one coaching.

Specialist activities such as the Exercise on Referral programme and LifeFit will remain under review.

n Bookings can be made on the Beau Sejour website or by calling the centre on 747200.
