Beau Sejour operating without restrictions
BEAU SEJOUR Leisure Centre reopened yesterday under phase five.
Reduced weekend hours allowed staff to prepare for the new normal and relocate equipment.
Head of Recreation Services Sam Herridge said she felt ‘incredibly proud to be a part of #GuernseyTogether, and very privileged that we’re leading the way for sports and leisure facilities in the British Isles. To be open now with minimal restrictions is testament to the way Guernsey has reacted positively and proactively to this pandemic.’
‘The team are keen to get back to business as usual. It was all hands on deck on Friday and over the weekend.’
Sunday saw a fair few cancellations, coincidently in line with Father’s Day.
Footfall is lower than usual, but is expected to increase as activities are re-introduced.
‘Some activities will be phased in over the next few weeks – for example Swim School sessions and the full range of Fitness Classes. Fitness Classes will be held in the David Ferguson Hall until Monday 29 to allow maintenance work to be completed in the fitness studio.’
‘Swim School will contact members to confirm details of future lessons. Unfortunately, we’re sorry to say that both Kiddy Kapers and Holiday Club will not be commencing in the foreseeable future owing to operational staffing issues.’
Phased reopening of the pool, fitness and sports facilities proved popular.
‘During phase four we had 4,500 activity slots booked since originally re-opening our doors on 4 June – until 19 June. This averages out at around 280 booking slots per day.’
Phase four precautions are no longer required.
‘Most will now cease to be in operation – with all changing rooms now open, casual pay-and-play activities now in operation and all one-way systems removed.
Bookings are operating as normal at other outdoor facilities, such as Footes Lane.
