Early October date proposed for general election
THE BODY in charge of Guernsey's general election will propose 7 October as the date for the island's first island-wide election.
In a message to States members, president of the States Assembly and Constitution Committee Neil Inder said: 'Last time I wrote to you on the subject [of the proposed election date] I committed to "as soon as we know, you'll know".
'Today [22 June] the committee reviewed the final draft of its policy letter.'
The date the committee will recommend to the States is for the general election to be held on 7 October.
Details of Public Health advice that helped shape the decision will be included in the policy letter, which will be signed off tomorrow [Wednesday 24 June] and submitted on Thursday.
