The racing gets under way with practice tomorrow.

G-NSEY flew to Oxford on Tuesday morning and then on to Graz in Austria. The airport is an hour from the track at Zeltweg.

It flew back to London Luton. Yesterday, it again flew to Graz at lunchtime.

Aurigny does not comment on private charters. However, London Oxford Airport’s Twitter post gave clues to the passengers, tagging #F1 and #Silverstone.

The flight number for the flights might also give a clue as to who it was carrying.

The London to Oxford flight number was AUR011P, while the Graz flight had the flight number GR018P.

The Racing Point team is based at Silverstone in Northamptonshire, with Oxford one of the closest airports.

The team has two drivers taking part in Austria – Sergio Perez, who is in car 11, and Lance Stroll, who is in 18.

The Guernsey Press has contacted the Racing Point team to see if it chartered the aircraft.

The Embraer normally operates Aurigny’s service between Guernsey and London Gatwick.

However the route is suspended currently due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Aurigny has been using the jet and its ATRs on the lifeline Southampton route, on which there is one rotation a day.
