The St Peter Port road has been the subject of a number of large and medium scale developments in recent years.

Now Infinity Construction Ltd has submitted a planning application for eight flats and five dwellings on a site, which has one house on it.

It is proposed that there will be two blocks of flats, three detached houses, and two semi-detached houses.

They would be a mixture of two and three bedroom units.

A development framework for the site was approved last year, which indicated it would suit having between six and eight dwellings. But this was subject to the proposed design.

Access would be from Guelles Road and there would be parking for 32 cars.

The site is to the south of the field used by Amherst pupils to walk to school. However little of the site can be seen from the road due to it being shielded by trees and other buildings.

Guelles Road has seen several developments in recent years, although these have been towards the lower end of the road.

These have included a Guernsey Housing Association project to provide 20 flats on the site of two houses, Infinity Construction demolishing a house to create six new homes, HVC Ltd clearing a house to build eight new dwellings and Infinity Group Limited clearing the former Dunchoille Hotel to replace it with 14 apartments.

The area has proved popular for development as it is close to St Peter Port, has houses on large plots and is within the main centre outer boundary, which makes it easier to get planning permission. The lower section of the road is also outside the St Peter Port conservation area, which reduces restrictions.
