Garden Centre’s family day is pots of fun
FAMILIES packed the grass in front of Le Friquet Garden Centre on Saturday, as the centre’s delayed family fun day went ahead.

The free event, which includes bouncy castles, a chairoplane and a planting area, was filled with people from almost as soon as it opened on Saturday morning.
It normally takes place in June, but was postponed until now due to the lockdown restrictions.
Centre manager James Robin said the annual event was always very popular, but this weekend’s event was particularly busy.
‘We do a family fun day every year to give something back to the community and our customers,’ he said.
‘It is busier this year as people are not going on holiday.’
The planting stand proved particularly popular with families. Children were able to choose a plant from a selection, plant it in a terracotta pot and then decorate the pot, all for free. There was an array of plants to choose from, including tomatoes, pansies and sunflowers.
Le Friquet assistant Tia Carre said the sunflowers had proved particularly popular with the budding gardeners, and they had all been planted and taken home within the first hour.
‘We’ve had lots of kids coming and they really enjoy it,’ she said.
Among the people getting involved were brothers Dylan, 8, and Ted Marquis, 3.
Their mother, Jaimia Mourant, said they had enjoyed planting their plants.
‘We just came down for fun and they like making their pots,’ she said.
‘They like growing. At home over lockdown they have grown carrots, tomatoes and onions.’
