RG Falla was the main contractor in the building of the St Sampson’s High School, and was approached by pedestrian safety charity Living Streets to carry out work on the pathway to the school.

Secretary of the charity, Pat Wisher, explained: ‘RG Falla helped us with many of the practical issues on the vinery site, including the cladding of a large set of

glasshouses close to the path with PVC.’

Over the years the PVC has deteriorated and the charity wanted to cover it with wood panels, as the greenhouses have been derelict for a number of years.

‘RG Falla generously stepped in again and agreed to do it for us free of charge,’ she said.

Managing director of the firm, Mark Palfrey, said the team did not hesitate to get stuck in and help.

‘This cladding will hopefully be a long-term solution to keeping the pathway safe,’ he said.

‘We recognise the real community benefit that Living Streets bring to the island.

‘Hopefully our support to improving the safety of the route will encourage more people to take advantage of this facility.’

n Chairman of Living Streets Guernsey Tom Le Pelley will be leading a celebratory walk on Monday – exactly 10 years since the inaugural walk in 2010.

The walk – or cycle – will start from the St Sampson’s High School car park near the football pitch

at 10.30am.

It will head towards the Bouet and then return via Chateau des Marais.

Everyone is welcome, and past and present pupils and teachers of the school are particularly encouraged to join.
