Those who signed up will appear at 10 hustings, an initiative that was started by Deputy Peter Roffey but taken on by Deputy Michelle Le Clerc.

‘Early on Peter asked me to take on the organisation of these events as he felt uncomfortable being both a participant and the organiser,’ said Deputy Le Clerc.

‘I was happy to oblige as I am not standing next term and felt that independent candidates would not have the same support as those affiliated to a group or association.’

20 candidates will take part. Ten have never been States members.

They are: Chris Blin, Adrian Dilcock, Adrian Gabriel, Catherine Hall, Melanie Harvey-Alan, Ross Le Brun, Ian Le Page, Diane Mitchell, Martyn Roussel and Richard Skipper.

Two former States members will also take to the stage, Garry Collins and Jenny Tasker.

And there are eight sitting deputies: Barry Brehaut, Matt Fallaize, Jennifer Merrett, Victoria Oliver, Charles Parkinson, Peter Roffey, Jeremy Smithies and Dawn Tindall.

‘We have booked five venues, with each hosting two hustings.

‘Each candidate will take part in one hustings at each venue meaning that 10 will be on the panel for each hustings, there will always be five experienced candidates with five new candidates.’

Some of the venues are restricted on space and it will be first come, first served.
