An employer associated with the patient has closed their office in line with their own company policies.

Late yesterday [Monday 19 October], the director of Public Health Dr Nicola Brink identified a case of Covid-19 in the Bailiwick, but said it was unusual to pick up a case where the source is not immediately obvious.

The Public Health team have been working with the individual concerned, and contact tracers are working hard to establish the exact source.

Dr Brink said: 'Our track and trace team have robust and well-tested processes in place so it should not be long before the exact details are established.

'I am aware that an employer associated with the positive case identified has chosen to close their office in line with their own policies.

'I respect the fact that companies have their own policies and procedures regarding COVID-19.'

The track and trace team, along with the majority of the Public Health Services Team, is current concentrating on identifying, testing and isolating contacts of this positive case.

  • If you are identified as a potential contact you will be contacted by the Track and Trace Team.

  • If you have not been contacted, please do not contact the Public Health, Clinical or Non-Clinical helpline to try and obtain more information and advice as this will impede our investigations around this case.
