Very apt sponsor for information board at La Societe orchard
VISITORS to a cider orchard will now be able to learn more about the site, as an information board has been donated.

Le Jardin de Lorette is a nature reserve owned by La Societe Guernesiaise in Les Petites Capelles, close to the Pony Inn.
It was donated by Lorette Domaille, after whom it is named, in 1997.
The orchard holds 80 cider apple trees of three French varieties that are primarily grown as a food source for birds over the winter. They were planted by Guernsey Conservation Volunteers soon after it was donated.
La Societe president Donna Francis said it was very grateful for the sign, which has been donated by the aptly-named Orchard PR.
‘We hope the sign encourages more people to visit the orchard and enjoy the wildlife that can be seen while they walk around,’ she said.
‘Earlier in the year we held some bird ringing open days at Le Jardin de Lorette, which were very well received. We hope to host more activities like this in the future.’
Orchard PR managing director Brooke Kenyon said that sponsoring the Le Jardin de Lorette seemed like a perfect fit for the company.
‘It is also only a short walk away from our offices and provides a beautiful spot for some fresh air at lunch,’ she said.
‘We hope that more people come to visit Le Jardin de Lorette and enjoy the plaque which provides interesting knowledge on the animals that can be found there.’
La Societe was founded to encourage the study of history, natural history, geography and geology in the Bailiwick, the conservation of the Bailiwick’s natural environment and the preservation of its historic buildings and monuments.
The charity’s membership is open to all individuals, companies and schools and provides access to activities, meetings and lectures throughout the year.
