In a statement, Guernsey Police said they were aware of the reports made by the Guernsey Press and on social media about the attack.

'An arrest has since taken place and the police are no longer seeking any help from the public,' they said.

The takeaway establishment on St Julian's Avenue posted CCTV footage of a gentleman in Love Shack at around 11pm on Sunday 22 November.

He was recorded talking over the counter before winding his arm back and smashing it through a glass cabinet to his right.

He then walked off, while two members of staff followed.

On Facebook, Love Shack said the establishment would be closed yesterday [Monday] to give staff some time to recover after being shaken up and to finalise details with the police and insurance company.

'Rest assured we have and will continue to deep clean before opening on Tuesday to be 100% safe.'
