Contact tracing team dealing with hundreds of emails

MORE than 300 emails have been sent to Public Health by people who were at the Ship & Crown or the Crow’s Nest over three days in January.

The move was part of a busy contact tracing weekend, where staff were trying to track the movements of islanders who have tested positive for Covid-19.

Problems came to light on Friday evening.

The three adults and a teenager whose positive tests were announced on Saturday are from four different households and have not travelled recently or had contact with a known case of coronavirus.

The cases were picked up because the individuals were symptomatic.

‘What we want to do now is not just look at the close contacts of those four cases... but also because we have developed an enhanced testing capacity, we will do far broader testing,’ Director of Public Health Dr Nicola Brink said.

One of the individuals has an association with the Ship & Crown and the Crow’s Nest.

‘So we are asking everyone who was in the Ship & Crown or the Crow’s Nest between 18 and 20 January to contact us,’ she said.

The emails sent by people who were there on those dates are now being dealt with in priority order and people are asked not to chase up the team after they have sent their email.

Contact should be made by emailing testresults@gov.gg and not by calling the helplines.
