One in ten islanders have received first Covid-19 vaccination
NEARLY 10% of the Guernsey population has received their first Covid-19 vaccination.
The latest figures run up to the end of last Sunday and reveal 6,151 people have received their first first dose and 522 the second dose.
That means at least 9.7% of the population has received at least one jab.
The news comes after the community vaccination hub at Beau Sejour had to open two days earlier than planned - last Saturday - as the hospital's on-site vaccination centre had to close due to lockdown.
The actual number of vaccinations will be even higher now than the figures published today. The hub was designed to vaccinate up to 300 people a day and is operating five days a week. Currently the programme is focusing on vaccinating health and care staff and the over 75s, but letters have been sent to the over 70s so they can get booked in for their vaccinations.
The first consignment of vaccine arrived in Guernsey in early December.
