The programme to vaccinate over- 75s has been moving ahead at pace, with vaccinators gearing up to accept the over-70s.

The vast majority of vaccinations are now being done at the community vaccination centre, which is based in a hall at Beau Sejour. The leisure centre is currently closed due to lockdown, apart from for vaccinations.

Rosemary Slimm, 75, said the injection had not been at all painful.

Retired nurse Jean Rouget, 78, joked that she could not have done a better job herself of giving the vaccination.

‘The staff were amazing,’ she said.

‘I thought it was all very well managed.’

Maurice Julou, 75, said it was a relief to get vaccinated.

‘The staff were all very professional and I could not have wished for better,’ he said.

Tim Hollowell, 76, said he was pleased to get the injection. He could see no reasons why people should not get the vaccination and praised the staff at the centre for their efficiency.
