Admiral Park works deemed essential
A LOCAL construction firm has sought to clarify why building work can be seen going on at Admiral Park.
JW Rihoy & Son Ltd. is the building contractor for the new 100-bed Premier Inn hotel build on Elizabeth Avenue, St Peter Port.
'Essential emergency structural works are being undertaken this week to the partly constructed steel frame of the new multi-storey car park at our Admiral Park site,' a spokesperson for Rihoy & Son said.
'Temporary support used during the normal course of construction isn't designed to be left in place for more than a few days, generally over weekends.'
Following advice from a structural engineer, the steel erection must progress to a safe point within the sequence of works.
As well, further temporary support has been designed and needs to be completed to ensure the structure is safe for the remainder of the lockdown.
Rihoy & Son anticipate that this work will be completed by the end of the week.
Social distancing and other current Public Health requirements are being adhered to, and all permissions have been sought from the States.
