Jack Trott will be taking up the challenge to raise money and awareness for Guernsey Mind, an independent mental health charity.

He said he will be running in loving memory of his friend Jacob, who took his own life in September 2019.

‘I made a promise I would fundraise for Guernsey Mind considering the incredible work they continue do for the community,’ he said.

‘Guernsey Mind are a charity very close to my heart and so any donation, however small, will be hugely appreciated and will go a long way in helping them achieve positivity, togetherness and openness on the island.’

He added that he hoped to raise awareness towards issues surrounding mental health and to assist in promoting positive mental wellbeing.

‘Men are four or five times more likely to commit suicide than women. Together we can break the stigma and encourage conversations in relation to male suicide.’

Starting at 9.30am at the top of Le Val des Terres, Mr Trott will follow the usual marathon route up the west coast and round to town.

He is aiming to run it in three hours 40 minutes, finishing just after 1pm.

‘My focus is finishing and raising awareness for Mind throughout the day and I will try and post on social media so people can follow,’ he added.

‘A few mates will be joining me along the way too.’
