To protect the island’s only hospital, masks must be worn for the duration of any visit, now that most usual Health & Social Care services have resumed.

Community care will also resume, with some safety measures in place including social distancing and staff wearing face coverings.

‘We are very pleased to be offering all health and care services again and to be able to welcome back visitors, but we must still remain vigilant for signs and symptoms of Covid-19,’ said Dermot Mullin, Hospital and Adult Community Care Services director.

‘The message remains the same that we only have one hospital and we must protect out PEH. We are very sorry to anyone who has been impacted by the restrictions in place during lockdown but would like to thank the whole community for their continued support as this has helped protect bed capacity in the hospital.’

Care home visits also return to normal, but social distancing and face masks will be used where appropriate.

Secondary mental health services resume face-to-face appointments with any needed measures, such as masks worn where social distancing cannot take place.

All hospital entrances will be open as there will no longer be Covid-19 streaming with temperature checks and other observations by the Emergency Department entrance.

Sanitiser must be used by all visitors on entry and departure of the hospital.

Anybody feeling unwell is asked not to attend the hospital, any HSC facilities or care homes.

Those with clinical appointments booked should call ahead to discuss the situation.

Covid screening will continue for expectant mothers and birth partners from 39 weeks gestation, and are advised to minimise social contact from that time.

Only one birth partner can attend labours and births for now, and both expectant mother and birth partner will have Covid swabs on admission and daily throughout their stay.

Postnatal visits return to normal with four visitors per bed maximum, and all adults required to wear surgical masks.

Antenatal clinics have returned to the PEH after temporarily being held at Lukis House.

Partners and children can attend these appointments, but antenatal scans can only be attended by one other person.

All elective surgery and outpatient appointments resume.

Those undergoing procedures should follow all guidance given beforehand, including pre-surgery testing and possible isolation recommendations.
