Condolences offered from the Bailiwick after Prince Philip's death

The Queen's consort passed away at Windsor Castle.

Guernsey's Government House has issued a statement on social media.

'[We] learned with great sadness of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,' they posted.

'His long life was the epitome of loyalty, commitment, service and good humour, and stands as an inspiration to us all. He will be sorely missed by the people of this Bailiwick.'

The States of Guernsey has posted that the Lieutenant-Governor, the Bailiff and the States of Guernsey wished to express their great sadness upon learning of the death of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

'He stood for commitment, loyalty, service, adventure and ambition,' they wrote.

'He made a number of visits to our islands and we were honoured to welcome him. He will be sorely missed by the people of the Bailiwick.'

The news has led to today's Guernsey Covid press conference being postponed until further notice.
